The Gender and Public Policy track prepares students for leadership in international and domestic careers in government and non-profit agencies that focus on gender and policy issues. Based on interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches, this track provides students with the analytical and empirical skills needed to address global human security and gender equity issues in research and policy analysis, from gender, cultural, economic, legal, moral, political, social, and technologic dimensions. Relevant topical areas include development, human resources, and family studies. Students in this track are interested in an array of careers in sectors like environmental science, sociology, urban and regional planning, policy analysis, diplomacy, public and social affairs, international development, humanitarian affairs, post-secondary and international education, communication, and international trade.

Electives in Gender and Public Policy

Below is a non-exhaustive list of approved electives.

Many other courses are available to students through searching the Course Catalog and getting approval by the MSGS Academic Program Coordinator. Students are also encouraged to meet with the Coordinator to discuss various courses.

Please note that while we do our best to keep this list updated, due to courses and credits constantly changing, it is ultimately the responsibility of the student to ensure the course(s) taken counts towards their MS in Global Studies and track - even if the course is listed below.
