Program in Arms Control, Disarmament and International Security (ACDIS) events and resources

ACDIS-Sandia Security Seminar Series: an academic year-long series that includes presentations and discussions by scholars and policymakers to the university community. These events occur weekly throughout the semester, on Wednesday's at 5pm at Coble Hall (801 S. Wright Street). Stay tuned to our events calendar for the guest speakers, and their topics of discussion. These are a hybrid event, zoom links will be announced prior to each seminar.

Illini Journal of International Security: Founded in September 2015, the Illini Journal of International Security (IJOIS) is a student-run and peer reviewed academic journal supported by ACDIS. Submissions offering cross-disciplinary takes on security issues are encouraged, and students from all University of Illinois campuses are welcome to contribute.

ACDIS Policy Briefs: All students are eligible to submit the ACDIS Policy Brief. Policy Briefs are concise, informative pieces that analyze pressing security issues and offer policy implications and recommendations.

ACDIS Papers: Graduate students or advanced undergraduate students who have completed rigorous academic research may submit articles to ACDIS Papers. Submit research reports, occasional papers, and policy briefs by emailing acdis@illinois.edu.
Center for the Study of Global Gender Equity (CSGGE) events and resources

Graduate Fellowships and Awards: CSGGE holds an annual competition for graduate student awards with a deadline mid-February. We offer two full fellowships through the Rita and Arnold Goodman Fellowship and the Barbara A. Yates International Fellowship. We also have smaller research awards through the Accad & Vieille International Research and the Due & Ferber International Research award.

Center For Global Studies (CGS) Events and Resources

Global Intersections: Global Intersections is a Center for Global Studies initiative designed to encourage multicultural, international, transnational, and global perspectives in student research. This initiative invites collaborative proposals from faculty and students across multiple disciplines that promote understanding and aid in solving global problems. These projects provide opportunities for students to engage directly in the process of developing new research directions in areas of global import.

Summer Institute for the Languages of the Muslim World: The Summer Institute for Languages of the Muslim World (SILMW) is an annual intensive language institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that focuses specifically on teaching critical languages spoken in the Muslim World. The program offers intensive courses in a variety of Muslim world languages. Past languages have included: Arabic, Urdu, Persian, Swahili, Turkish, Uzbek, and Wolof.
