Monday, March 4th | 12 - 1 PM | Campus Instructional Facility (CIF), Room 4039
In this talk, Professor Eve Darian-Smith (Global and International Studies at the University of California, Irvine) will focus on wildfires in California, Australia, and Brazil, connecting them to the broader economic, social, and political issues underlying climate change, and exploring how these wildfires have become important signifiers of an unfolding global calamity. She will include material gleaned from the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) that convened in December 2023.
This event is hosted by the Center for Global Studies and is one part of the MillerComm 2024 Lecture Series from the Center for Advanced Study. See the event here on the CAS Calendar.
