Biography

Professor DeBrock served as the Josef and Margot Lakonishok Endowed Dean from 2009-2015.  Prior to that, he served as Interim Dean, Acting Associate Dean of Faculty and Associate Dean of Graduate and Professional Programs. He has been on the College of Business faculty for more than thirty five years. DeBrock received his B.S. in Economics from Bradley University in 1975, an M.A. in Economics from Cornell University in 1978, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University in 1980.

Research Interests

DeBrock’s areas of expertise include applied microeconomics and industrial organization, regulatory issues, and labor economics. He has also written articles on the economic aspects of professional sports.

Awards and Honors

DeBrock has won numerous department, college and university awards for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These include: Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Teaching (campus award), 2001; Keith E. Sawyer Memorial Service Award, Exec MBA, 1999;   MBA Faculty Excellence Award, 1998;  Exec MBA Instructor of the Year, 2006-07, 2004-05 and 1998-99;   MBA Faculty of the Year Award, 2000, 1998, 1994, and 1993;   Commerce Alumni Association Excellence in undergraduate Teaching Award (college award) 1995 and 1983;   MBA Teacher of the Year for Core Courses, 1994;   Harriet and Charles Luckman Award for Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching (campus award), 1992;   Outstanding Teacher of Freshman, (campus award), 1990.
