Biography
Jeeyoung Ahn Ha, Director of the Korean language program (since 2004) at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, specializes in curricular development, language pedagogy and assessment, and teacher training. Actively involved in action research and collaborative projects at all levels, she successfully coordinated team efforts as the Heritage Level leader in the College Korean Curriculum Inspired by National Standards for Korean project by American Association of Teachers of Korean (AATK) from 2012 to 2015, and gave numerous presentations on standards-based curriculum development and instructional strategies. She also developed the semi-adoptive Korean proficiency and placement online test and the online community Let’s Talk in Korean for learners to practice speaking with Korean native speaker volunteers. She is certified as ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) Tester and Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) Rater of Korean. She currently serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies in the department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and the Secretary for the ACTFL Korean Special Interest Group (SIG), and is on the Center for Language Instruction and Coordination (CLIC) Executive Committee and the Less Commonly Taught Language (LCTL) Business Symposium committee at CLIC. Previously, she served as the Executive Board Member of the AATK (2015-2018) and the AATK Korean Honor Society committee. She is the co-author of newly published textbooks and workbooks for accelerated and heritage learners, Integrated Korean: Accelerated 1 & 2 (2020) as part of the most popular Korean textbook series in America by Klear Textbooks in Korean Language.
