Dr. D. Elder is Associate Professor and Coordinator of Humanities and Social Sciences at Ohio State ATI in Wooster, Ohio. She teaches classes on world music, comparative religions, global arts, comparative sociology, and rural studies.
For the 2021 International Studies Research Lab at UIUC, Dr. Elder is researching a white paper that explores the religious experiences of Asian women in the US and internationally. This research will form the core for a course, Comparative Studies: Religious Studies 2370, which will challenge students to examine the roles of Asian women in creating and sustaining religious communities. The class will highlight personal stories, scriptures and creeds, spiritual disciplines, art, festivals, religious discrimination, and the roles of women in religion.
