The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Collective is a new music and dance ensemble dedicated to high-quality Flamenco education and performance in Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas. Directors Alyssa Teijeiro-Ficht (dance) and Brian Stark (music) are working with students, some of whom have prior Flamenco experience and some who are absolute beginners, but all of whom are inspired by a passion for Flamenco music. Together they are developing a traditional and innovative repertoire for performance. The IFJC is excited to be offering masterclasses throughout Spring 2020 from accomplished Flamenco guitarist David Chiriboga and dancer Mia Angela de Lourdes “La Malou” who will add greater depth and fire to the performances.
