Children of all ages and their caretakers spent an afternoon learning about different cultures from around the world through arts and crafts, music, and dance. They made Lunar New Year crafts, tried on Venetian carnival masks, and played with African and Middle Eastern instruments. In addition to exploring activity tables, they learned how to dance the kolo (a folk dance from the Balkans), presented by the student group Eastern European Illini, and an Argentine folk dance called “la Chacarera”.
