The Patriotism of the Expatriates. Diasporas and national consciousness between Europe, the Mediterranean and beyond in the long 19th century.

This conference will be held in two parts: A one day workshop to be held in Nicosia (University of Nicosia) on May 30, 2010 and a two day conference to be held in London (Queen Mary College, University of London) on September 10 and 11, 2010.

The aim of the conference is to explore the role intellectual and revolutionary diasporas played in creating, disseminating and negotiating ideas, and in producing shared values, principals and discursive patterns among patriots of different national origins.
