Application Information 2018

Students that have completed at least one year of high school are eligible to participate.


Enrollment options:

Domestic resident student – For students who are US citizens or permanent residents and who will be staying in the residence halls and eating all meals on campus throughout the program.

  • Cost: $1,000.

Domestic commuter student – For students who are US citizens or permanent residents and who will not be staying in the residence halls. All lunches and 2 group dinners will still be provided.

  • Cost $600.

International resident student – For students who are not US citizens or permanent residents who will be staying in the residence halls and eating all meals on campus throughout the program.

  • Cost $1,200.

International Students are welcome to apply.  If accepted to the program, International students will need to provide proof of English proficiency.  This is typically done by submitting TOEFL or IELTS scores.  If you are going to be participating through the longer, July 14-August 4, program that is run jointly by the Center for Global Studies and Global Education & Training (GET), please apply through this CGS-GET joint application.

Deadline: all materials must be submitted by May 18, 2018 (the deadline is now past, but if you have not completed all elements of your application, please contact us at and we can see if special accommodation might be made).

Global Leader Awards (Optional)
-CGS is pleased to announce Global Leader Awards to provide financial assistance to eligible participants in its summer high school program. These awards reduce or waive the cost of this program to students that demonstrate financial need. All accepted program applicants may apply.
-The deadline to apply for the Global Leader Award is June 1st, but the general application deadline remains May 18th. If you require financial support to participate in this program, please fill out the short Global Leader Award application. This application is not required and is entirely optional.
-You will be notified by June 15th, 2018 if you have been awarded a cost waiver or reduction. At that time, you will also receive instructions for paying any remaining fees and registering for program participation. Please Note: Participation cost waivers are allocated on the basis of need. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Only students who have submitted a completed application form and have been accepted into the program will be considered.
-Global Leader Awards are provided through the generous support of the University of Illinois campus as a part of its commitment to providing students with opportunities to engage global issues and develop important leadership skills.
