K-12 Educational Resources

National Resource Centers at Illinois

The National Resource Centers (NRCs) at the University of Illinois are funded in part through the Title VI program for Area Studies of the U.S. Department of Education. NRCs at Illinois are jointly affiliated with International Programs and Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Whether individually, or in collaboration with consortium partners or affiliated departments, NRCs at Illinois offer a broad range of educational resources covering all areas of the world.

NRCs work within the university to enhance campus teaching through support for research, course offerings, instruction in less commonly taught languages, and degree programs; build the collections of library and multimedia resources; develop international learning opportunities and faculty exchanges; and support extracurricular programming, including seminars and conferences.

Outreach programming for K-12 educators and  students, and for the general public includes dynamic and varied lectures, workshops, and programs covering art, music, literature, history, languages, cultures, current events, developed by subject-area specialists and based on solid, contemporary research methods. Each summer, the NRCs join forces to offer the Intensive Summer Institute, a one-week professional development workshop for high school teachers.

We encourage you to contact the NRCs at Illinois to be added to their mailing lists about upcoming events, or to schedule classroom visits or request information.
